Because a GPS may not be effective for local arrival and parking, I suggest that you use the following detailed directions once you get to Ossining:From Route 9, coming from the north. At branch of 9 & 9A, just below Croton-on-Hudson, bear right, staying on 9. When you get to the center of town (large intersection where Route 133 ends at Route 9), you’ll see a large granite church with red doors and a very high bell tower on your left. Because no left turn is allowed into Ellis Place, make a half-right turn onto Main Street (see pedestal clock on the left). Bear left on Church Street, and come back up to Route 9. Make a left turn onto Route 9. Now you’re headed north. Make an immediate right onto Ellis Place and an immediate left into the church parking lot (disregard “No-Parking” sign at entrance). Walk down the stone steps at the SW corner of the parking lot (corner of Rte. 9 and Ellis Pl.) to the Route 9 sidewalk. Walk north a few feet, go up some stone steps (on south side of church courtyard), and enter the Parish Hall through the first red door. There is usually a large T’ai-Chi poster in front of the door.
From Route 9, coming from the south. Get on Route 9, north. Ossining is the first major town you will see after Tarrytown. Just after the High School on the right, but before Route 9 reaches the first big intersection at the center of Ossining, make a right turn onto Ellis Place. Make an immediate left turn into the church parking lot (disregard “No-Parking” sign at entrance). Walk down the stone steps at the SW corner of the parking lot (corner of Rte. 9 and Ellis Pl.) to the Route 9 sidewalk. Walk north a few feet, go up some stone steps (on south side of church courtyard), and enter the Parish Hall through the first red door. There is usually a large T’ai-Chi poster in front of the door.
From Taconic Parkway, coming from the north. Exit “Route 134, Ossining.” Merge onto Route 134. Immediately after crossing Rte. 9A, continue straight (disregard “Route 134” sign leading you to the right). After some sharp curves, bear left onto Dale Avenue (Route 134 again) at stop sign. After a few tenths of a mile, fork left onto Linden Avenue. Keep bearing left. Cross Croton Avenue. After a few blocks, Linden Ave ends (stop sign). Make a right on Ellis Place, and continue down Ellis a short distance until just before it ends at Route 9. Make a right into the church parking lot (last driveway on right) (disregard “No-Parking” sign at entrance). Walk down the stone steps at the SW corner of the parking lot (corner of Rte. 9 and Ellis Pl.) to the Route 9 sidewalk. Walk north a few feet, go up some stone steps (on south side of church courtyard), and enter the Parish Hall through the first red door. There is usually a large T’ai-Chi poster in front of the door. From Taconic Parkway, coming from the south. Exit at Route 9A/Route 100 sign (Exit 5, which is the 2nd exit after the Sprain Parkway becomes the Taconic). Stay on Route 9A until the second traffic light. There make a left turn onto Chappaqua Rd., and immediately merge onto Pleasantville Rd. (stay in same direction). Follow Pleasantville Rd. (pass Chilmark Shopping Center on left) until it hits a tee with a light (gas station on left) at Croton Ave. (Route 133). Here make a left turn and continue downhill. At the fifth intersection on the left (“Midway Center” sign on right and Beasley Lock Shop on left), make a left turn onto Linden Avenue. After a few blocks, Linden Avenue ends (stop sign). Make a right on Ellis Place, and continue a short distance down Ellis until just before it ends at Route 9. Make a right into the church parking lot (last driveway on right) (disregard “No-Parking” sign at entrance). Walk down the stone steps at the SW corner of the parking lot (corner of Rte. 9 and Ellis Pl.) to the Route 9 sidewalk. From Route 9A, coming from the south. Stay on Route 9A until the second traffic light after the Pleasantville Road exit. Then make a left turn onto Chappaqua Rd., which immediately merges with Pleasantville Rd. Follow Pleasantville Rd. (pass Chilmark Shopping Center on left) until it hits a tee with a light at Croton Ave. (Route 133). There is a gas station on the left. Here make a left turn and continue downhill. From Chappaqua. Take Rte 120. Make a left turn onto Rte. 133. Make a left on Station Road (Millwood Lumber on left) and then another left onto Rte. 100. After a short distance, make a half right turn onto Rte. 133. Continue on 133 until you pass Pleasantville Rd., which merges into Rte. 133 on the left (traffic light and a gas station on left). Follow Route 133 (now Croton Avenue) downhill, counting intersections on the left. From Pleasantville Road (from Pleasantville, Briarcliff Manor) In Ossining, Pleasantville Rd. ends. There, make a left into Rte. 133 (traffic light and a gas station on left). Follow Route 133 (now Croton Avenue) downhill, counting intersections on the left. At the fifth intersection on the left, make a left turn onto Linden Avenue (Beasley Lock Shop on left and "Midway Center" sign on right). After a few blocks, Linden Ave ends (stop sign).
